Single Malachite Sleeper Hoop Earring

This individual earring was designed around a customer provided malachite stone. A request for it to be fabricated into something that can be worn every day and serve as a memento to her late father.

The malachite here is a little treasure from her late father's vast collection of gemstones. He was an experienced and talented russian lapidarist (gemstone cutter) and her childhood memories include much time watching her father make vast amounts of cabochon cut gemstones.

Having no experience herself in lapidary, much of the equipment, raw and finished stones have had to be sold on after his passing. This little gem however was chosen to remain.

As a lover of mismatched earrings she sketched up an initial design and I was honoured to be able to bring her vision to life. Here you can see the final result and I think it serves as a beautiful tribute to his memory.
